100% Certified Giza Egyptian Cotton Percale SK Sheet - 5Pcs, Light Grey or White

If you're a fellow member of the "why am I spontaneously combusting at 2:00 a.m.?" club, these sheets are worth a look.

As someone who spends a lot of time talking to women in perimenopause and menopause, I've become a little obsessive about sleep. One of the easiest changes I made was switching from synthetic bedding to 100% cotton.

There is actually good evidence that natural fibers like cotton are more breathable and allow heat and moisture to dissipate better than synthetic fabrics, which can trap heat against your body. If you're already waking up feeling like your internal thermostat is broken, your sheets shouldn't be making things worse.

I specifically wanted percale because the weave is crisp, lightweight, and much more breathable than sateen or those super high-thread-count sheets that can feel luxurious... but also a little like sleeping inside a warm burrito.

Now for the honest part.

When you first take these out of the package, you might think, "Amanda, have you lost your mind?" They aren't silky soft right away. Percale starts out with a crisp, almost slightly scratchy feel. But after several washes, they soften up beautifully while still staying cool and breathable. That's exactly what good cotton percale is supposed to do.

They also wrinkle. A lot. If you dream of perfectly smooth, hotel-style sheets, you'll either need to embrace the wrinkles or become very close friends with your iron. Personally, I'd rather sleep cool than spend my life ironing fitted sheets.

These aren't the softest sheets you'll ever own on day one. They're the coolest sheets I've found for someone who spends half the night throwing the covers off and the other half wondering why they're suddenly freezing again.
